Certify as an investor

To ensure both investor and entrepreneur protection, the FCA has established a regulatory framework for angel investing.

Before we can send you any investment opportunities or receive investments from you, you must self-certify as either a High Net Worth or Sophisticated Investor, as defined by the FCA under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA).

You qualify if you meet one of the following criteria:

• Annual income exceeds £100,000
• Net assets exceed £250,000, excluding your pension fund assets and private residence

You qualify if you meet one of the following criteria:

• Worked in a professional capacity in the private equity sector, or in the provision of finance for SMEs, within the last two years
• Been a director of a company with an annual turnover of at least £1 million in the last two years
• Been a member of a network or syndicate of business angels for more than six months and are still a member
• Made more than one investment in an unlisted company in the previous two years

As part of the onboarding process to MV Syndicate, you will need to sign a self-certification as either a High Net Worth Individual or a Sophisticated Investor. If you’re unsure of your status, please seek professional advice.
